Byesar

Our standards

One standard, for everything we make.

Every Byesar project follows the same published standard, the Ethical Content Standard (ECS). This page says what it asks in plain words, where each rule comes from, and where to find each project's own page.

What the standard covers

It applies to everything a Byesar project makes, publishes, distributes or hosts as publisher. It governs our business and what we distribute, not anyone's private practice. Where we are only the host, the client takes responsibility under our terms, and we act when we learn of a problem.

This is not a fatwa. It records which published rulings we have chosen to follow in our own work.

The main rules

  • Sound. No musical instruments, and no vocal effects that imitate them. No bells, beats, musical stingers or synth tones. Voice, Foley and ambience are fine. No female singing.
  • People on screen. No women shown in anything men can access, such as open broadcast or public streaming. Young girls well below puberty may appear, with parental consent and a way to remove them.
  • Images. No still photos of people or animals in our own interfaces, stock imagery or marketing; we use architecture, landscape or abstract imagery. Drawn or animated faces appear only in beneficial children's animation. Adult animation and illustration are faceless.
  • Never depicted. The Prophets and the Companions, and devils or unseen beings.
  • Editorial care. Religious claims are sourced. The Qur'an is never AI-generated and never used as background. Religious content is marked for a person to review; where that review has not happened yet, we say so.
  • AI recommends, a person approves. Our AI may screen and flag. It never publishes on its own.
  • We act on knowledge. If a declaration proves false or a report is upheld, we remove the item. Where we are the publisher, we check before we publish.

Tools that measure things for other people

These tools match the facts they find against the points of a standard the user chooses, and show where each fact was found. They give no verdict and no single score. A person decides. A result is one of: Matched, No match found, No published ruling or Needs human review. "No match found" is not a pass.

We report what others have said, with attribution, and never present it as our own ruling. We never claim to certify or approve anything.

Every rule rests on published sources.

Where the rules come from

The rules are based on the Qur'an and Sunnah and on published answers from recognised fatwa bodies. Scholars differ on several of these questions, and this is our house rule, not a ruling. Our work is also halal in how it is funded: no interest-based products or deals.

We keep the detailed source list internally and check it against the published texts as we go.
